Ramadan

Ramadan with IMATX

In Ramadan we try to break fast together as often as we can. Last year there was an iftar or suhoor almost every weekend, hosted by families, students, masjids and friends. This page keeps the record, so we remember what worked and can do it again. Marhaban ya Ramadan.

Coming next

Ramadan 1448 — around February 2027

Ramadan 1448 is expected to start around 8 February 2027, depending on the moon. The Wednesday halaqa will pause during Ramadan. We will share the iftar schedule in the WhatsApp group first, then here.

Would your family like to host an iftar, or can you help cook? Please tell us early, so we can spread the dates across the month.

Before Ramadan, on 1 February, Sheikh Abdul Hakim Hamid helped us prepare at a Family Halaqa. Then the iftar started, one or two every week. Most were potluck with Indonesian food. Terima kasih to every host and every cook.

What we learned for next year

Spread the dates

One or two a week

An iftar every weekend kept people together all month. Mix IMATX iftar with invitations from friends like Permias and Raindrop.

Potluck works

Everyone brings a dish

Most family iftar were potluck. Cook more rice than you think. At the first one it ran out!

Give back

One iftar for others

Hosting 350 people at ICLT was our biggest gotong royong. It needs volunteers to prepare two weekends before. See the report.
